He seized him by the hooves, 
whirled him around with one hand and threw him, 
with the life slung out of him, in the top of a palm tree. [SB, 10-15]

Die greep het bij bij de hoeven beet,
Slingerde 't rond als was 't  een wiel,
Waarna Hij 't in een boomkruin smeet -
Van het geslinger al ontzield.

He playing not afraid of anyone, 
so attractive in yellow garments and most delicate 
like a glowing white cloud, with the s'rîvatsa, 
His smiling beautiful face and with feet 
like the inside of a lotus, 
was by him with anger bitten in the chest 
and enveloped in his coils. [SB, 10-16]

Fel beet de slang de mooie, regenwolkblauwe Jongen
Met Zijn srivats', Zijn gele kleren en lachend' ogen,
Die vrij van angst Zijn tere voeten in 't rond liet dollen,
Waar 't kwetsen moest, terwijl zijn kronkels om Krishna vlogen.

This way moving around him wore He him out and 
made He him bend down his high raised shoulders; 
climbing on top of the broad heads, began He as the Original One, 
the First Spiritual Master of All the Arts, 
to dance, with His lotusfeet in touch reddened 
by the many jewels on the heads. [SB, 10-16]

Toen 't ondier op was van het draaien sprong d' eerste Leraar,
Zijn koppen plettend, die van trossen juwelen glansden,
Erbovenop, zodat de flonkers van al die stenen
Zijn lotusvoeten lieten gloeien terwijl Hij danste.
 

Hearing about it, o King rushed that great master and devotee 
of the Supreme Lord with great speed 
forward to kill Kâliya. [SB, 10-17]

Toen dan Garuda, welvervuld,
De dierb're drager van de Heer,
Dit zag, wierp hij in volle vaart
Zich woedend op Kâliya neer

This way seeing the desperation of His people, 
swallowed the Lord of the Universe, 
The Unlimited One who possesses endless potencies, 
that terrible fire.  [SB, 10-17]

Toen nu de Heer van het heelal,
D' Oneindig', ieder beven zag
Zoog Hij de brand zÛ in Zich op -
Wat is er dat Hij niet vermag?

Then remembering Himself, did the fearless Balarâma, 
moving away from the company like He was being kidnapped, 
angrily strike him hard with His fist on the head 
as fast as the king of the gods would hit 
a mountain with his thunderbolt. [SB, 10-18]

Toen bijgekomen en voor Zijn vijand onbevreesd,
Die Hem als kostbaarheid door de hemelruimte droeg,
Hieuw Bala 'm woedend op zijn kop met een vuist zo hard
Als Indra's bliksem wanneer die 'n berg een piek afsloeg.

Snatching their clothes away 
He climbed quickly up a Kadamba tree 
laughing together with the boys making fun saying: 
 'Come here, o girls, and please take each your own garment 
as you desire, I'm seriously not joking, 
since you must be tired of the vow. [SB, 10-22]

Hij roofde, volgens het verhaal,
Hun kleren weg en schoot ermee -
De jongens lachten - in een boom,
Waarna Hij vrolijk tot hen zei:

"Kom hier dan, meisjes, als je wilt,
Pak allemaal je kleren aan,
Ik meen het heus - na alles wat
Jullie om Mij hebben doorstaan.

Like rivers flowing towards the ocean were 
the four types of [chewed, sucked, licked and drunk] 
edibles in all tastes of food brought 
and taken out in vessels to their all beloved. [SB,10-23]

Met zalig eten, kruiken vol,
Vier soorten voedsel, snelden zij
Naar hun Geliefde toe zoals
Rivieren stromen naar de zee.

 S'rî S'uka said: 
'Hearing Nanda's words and also what the other 
residents of Vraja said, 
spoke Lord Kes'ava to his father in a way 
that made lord Indra angry. 
 The Supreme Lord said: 
'It is of karma that a living entity takes birth, 
it is by karma alone that he meets with destruction; 
happiness or unhappiness, security and fear 
are all the result of karma. [SB, 10-24]

Shukadeva zei: 
Toen Krishna de verklaring van
Nand' en de herders had gehoord
Sprak Hij als volgt Zijn vader toe
Opdat Heer Indra woedend werd:

S'rî Krishna zei:
Door karma slechts verschijnt men hier,
Door karma slechts vindt men de dood,
Door karma slechts kent men geluk
Verdriet, tevredenheud en nood.
 

Thus having spoken took He, 
Vishnu, with one hand [His left one] 
Govardhana hill and held it up 
as easy as a child does a mushroom. [SB 10-25]

Shukadeva zei:
Toen dan nam Hij de Govardhan
En hief de hele heuvelboel
Zonder één trillinkj' in de lucht
Zoals een kind een paddestoel
