Birthday text by Swami

"Have Ananda (joy) in your heart. Ananda comes from pure sight,
pure hearing, pure speech and pure actions.
The day you establish yourselves in this Ananda,
that day will be My Birthday for joy.
I must tell you another fact. Swami's Birthday is being
celebrated at Puttaparthi because so many thousands come
here from far-off places, in spite of huge expense and
great difficulty during the journey. Do not be under impression
that because it is Swami's Birthday, therefore, you must come.
I have no desire to have My Birthday celebrated. Such trivial
thoughts can never enter Me. My only desire is to share my Ananda
with you, to encourage you to lead lives full of Ananda.
My Birthday is when you get Ananda."

The sacrifice itself , that which is offered in the fire of sacrifice and
he who is of sacrifice are of the same spiritual nature;
he will certainly attain the spirit of the Absolute [Brahman]
who is completely absorbed in working for the spiritual.

I keep the balance of the ingoing and outgoing breath and
 do digest the four kinds of foodstuff
 [food that one swallows right away, chews, licks and sucks].

Qawwali is music that uses the poetic delicacy of its texts to open the fire of extasy in the public's heart.
It includes numerous praises to Mohammed or to Ali, love poems where the Divine is transposed to the Sensual, but also extraordinary esoteric poems from the Sufi masters.

This lineage of qawwali singers, the sons of the original qawwal or Qawwal Bacche, was started by a man who, as the legend goes, was deaf and dumb. Miraculously cured by a Sufi saint, he became one of the first disciples of Amir Khusrau, the very famous Persian musican and poet who came to India during the 14th century.

Qawwali is sung by a group composed of a leader singer assisted by one, two or three of his best students. A choir (composed of the other students) adds strength to the music. The rhythm is underlined by the traditional dholak, a two-faced drum and the melodic accompaniment by an harmonium.

Qawwali is derived from the Arabic word Qaol that means axiom or dictum and is a very old traditional form of Islamic devotional singing. Qawwali usually starts with a short introductory alap, followed by the singing of the song wherein the words are sung repeatedly with variations of both rhythm and melodic line to bring out newer and deeper meanings of the lyrics.

uitgestrekte aarde is doorgedrongen,

the world like lotus petals
(which are unattached to the water in which they grow,
even though they cannot survive without water)
and are similar to Mother Sita in virtues and piousness
are singing Thy Glory - the Glory of Lord Shiva
adorned with serpent around His neck -
through holy hymns holding excellent flower garlands in their hands.
O Lord Sathya Sai! Blessed by Thy wakefulness,
we pray for an auspicious day.

terwijl zij prachtige bloemslingers in hun handen houden.

Truth and God

Premaswarupulara!
Embodiments of Love!

It is the Truth that has manifested in the Form of this universe;
Without Truth there is no world;
Everything originated of the Truth;
God being Truth Himself, is the center or the original of the entire universe;
And everything merges there in that eternal Truth;
There is no place in this universe without the principal of Truth;
It is a pure unsullied nondual Truth;
The plenty, and prosperity and all the pleasure originated of Truth;
The Veda's and Upanishads came out of this Truth;
It is the Truth that is the very Form of God, which is so dear to Him.
Truth can not be there without God, nor God without Truth.
Then who is God?
God is Truth!

The Santoor was originally known as 'Shata-tantri-veena', or 'hundred stringed lute'. Similar instruments are found in many countries of the world. The 'Yang Chin' in China, the 'Cimbalon' or 'Zymbalon' in Hungary and Rumania, 'Santoori' in Greece, 'Kentele' in Finland and 'Hackbrett' in Germany are all kindred forms of the instrument. When used for playing Indian classical music, the Santoor is played with a pair of curved mallets fashioned out of walnut wood and the resultant melodies are reminiscent of music on the piano, harp or the harpsichord.
